However, IT can have a major impact on efficiency and profitability. It can make jobs easier and quicker. The initial worries that mass redundancies would be the result of introducing IT have proved totally unfounded. This points to two things. Firstly, the introduction of IT in some areas of business has not increased efficiency it has just made the job a bit easier. Secondly, IT has enabled the collection of more useful information to enable the carrying out of jobs that were impossible before.

Overall it is probably true that most businesses do not exploit the resources they now have in front of them
